On Monday the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (parliament) ratified the agreements signed between Azerbaijan and Russia.

During its first autumn session meeting, the Azerbaijani parliament ratified the 'Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of aviation search and rescue'.

The Azerbaijani parliament also ratified 'The Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Russian Federation on the construction of a road bridge across the River Samur near the checkpoints of Samur (Azerbaijan) and Yarag-Kazmalar (Russian Federation) across the Russian-Azerbaijani state border'.

Chairman of the Azerbaijani parliament's Economic Policy Committee, Ziyad Samadzadeh, submitted these draft laws at the meeting and noted that the agreements will be a basis for further development of relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.

During the meeting the head of Azeryolservis JSC, MP Javid Gurbanov provided detailed information about the Agreement on the construction of a road bridge across the River Samur near the checkpoints of Samur and Yarag-Kazmalar.

According to him, after the delimitation of borders between the two countries, the construction of a bridge over the River Samur will be an historic event. Previously the length of the bridge was 260 metres, whereas it is expected that the length of the new bridge will be 326 metres. The bridge will consist of 11 spans with the height of each at 21 metres.
