National gymnast wins license to European Games 2019

Azerbaijani gymnasts have achieved great success at the 34th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship in Spain.

In the competition among young gymnasts in individual exercises, Arzu Jalilova won a bronze medal in the ball performances. With the result of 17.100 she lost to the Russian and Ukrainian gymnasts. Another Azerbaijani gymnast, Narmina Samadova, who performed in the hoop and clubs finals, took fifth and eighth places, respectively. In the ribbon finals, Yelyzaveta Luzan placed sixth.

In individual performances among adults, Azerbaijan was represented by Zohra Agamirova and Veronika Khudis. In all four exercises Veronika Khudis scored 61.250 points, taking 22nd place. Zohra Agamirova with 63.200 points took 18th place, winning a license to the European Games 2019.

Notably, European Games 2019  will be held in Minsk, Belarus on June 21-30, 2019. The games will feature 198 events in 15 sports (23 disciplines).

Another bronze medal of the team was brought by the team's performance in group exercises with a composition with three balls and two ribbons.

The team consisting of Aliya Pashayeva, Siyana Vasileva, Zeynab Hummatova, Diana Doman and Ayshan Bayramova with 20.350 points took the third place.

The 34th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship took place in Guadalajara, Spain on June 1-3.

The championship brought together gymnasts from 40 countries.

After the flag parade of  participating countries, the audience enjoyed a fabulous performance by world-famous Spanish Flamenco dancer Rafael Amargo.

The championship  was officially opened by President of the Royal Spanish Gymnastics Federation Jesus Carballo and UEG President Farid Gayibov.

Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF), which was founded in 1956, has experienced revival since 2002 and the renewed federation lifted this popular sport to a new level. Currently, AGF comprises seven gymnastics disciplines recognized by the International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG).

The National Gymnastics Arena specialized in all six competitive gymnastics disciplines and hosted all large-scale competitions held in Baku from the day of its opening in 2014, is in the spotlight of not only the gymnasts, willingly joining the training camp, but, all the sports fans from different countries of the world with its uniqueness.
