Azerbaijani weightlifter crowned European champion

Azerbaijan`s Under-15 weightlifter Tarmenkhan Babayev (85kg) has claimed a gold medal at the European championships in Pristina, Kosovo.

He secured the title after scoring a total of 291kg, with a lift of 130kg in the snatch and 161kg in the clean and jerk, Azertac reported.

Earlier, the 17-year-old Sabina Azimova (53 kg) became the champion, raising in the sum of two-rounds 174 kg (78 kg + 96 kg) in Kosovo. This is her third victory at the European championships.

Azerbaijan’s squad includes 9 athletes.

The tournament brought together 305 weightlifters from nearly 40 countries.
