Baku City Circuit Operations Company (BCC) officials organized presentation on the topic of “Formula 1 in the Caucasus: Building Tourism and Developing Motorsport in the Region” and provided detailed information about Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix for media representatives in Tbilisi.

Nigar Arpadarai, BCC’s Head of Marketing and Communications Department and Bulent Ozerdim, Head of Commercial Department spoke at the meeting in Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, on May 24.

Speaking on the perspectives of joint development of tourism and autosport in the region, Nigar Arpadarai said there was a lot of attention for Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Georgia.

“We do our best to promote Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Tbilisi as we did last summer. A number of fans from Georgia visited Baku to witness Formula 1 last year. We are expecting to have more Georgian tourists in comparison to 2016, as we have been campaigning this event more intensively. I believe that long-awaited Azerbaijan Grand Prix will have great contributions to autosport culture of the region," she said.

Bulent Ozerdim also noted that Formula 1 race would increase the number of tourists to the country as it would be held in summer: “Tickets for 2017 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix have already been sold in 54 countries. The number is greater compared to last year. Although there is a lot of attention from different countries, Georgia remains in top 5, which was same last summer. Therefore, we are expecting more Georgian tourists this year”.

BCC officials’ first meeting on Formula 1 drew a lot of interest among business sector representatives, as well as journalists in Tbilisi.
