Media accreditation for Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games scheduled for May will start from January 16.

Press representatives interested in covering Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games are encouraged to apply before the March 31 deadline as accreditations beyond this date will not be accepted.

Approximately 650 journalists, photographers and non-rights holding broadcasters are expected to be accredited to cover the Islamic Solidarity Games.

Once approved, international press will be sent a pre-valid card, which will serve as their visa to enter Azerbaijan. Accreditation passes for media will be distributed at the Accreditation Centre.

The AISGOC Press Operations team will assist media by providing accommodation advice and general recommendations on hotels in Baku.

At the Athletes’ Village, press will not be allowed into the Residential Zone, with the exception of cases when a media representative is invited as a guest of the National Olympic Committee.

However, there will be an opportunity to tour the Residential Zone during one of two Village Media Tours. There will be a limit of 100 media representatives allowed on each tour. To request a seating at the tour, press should register via [email protected] after March 31.

The Press Operations team is responsible for the planning and delivery of all services and facilities for the media accredited to cover the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku 2017. This includes written press, photographers and non-rights holding broadcasters.

Details of the facilities and services available to press will be available in the Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games Media Guide, which will be distributed to media upon their arrival in Baku.

A multinational and multi-sport event involving the elite athletes of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation will be held on May 12-22. The event will welcome over 5,000 athletes to compete in 20 sports disciplines during the 12 days of competition.

Being the 4th in the edition, the Games will host as many as 57 countries, which means the record number of the participants in the history of the event.
