The International Canoe Federation (ICF) will hold its next Congress in Baku on November 24-26.
The 36th ICF Congress will bring together 200 guests from 89 countries and discuss the new structure and changes in the leadership of the ICF, as well as development plans for the next five years.
Azerbaijan will be represented by President of the National Federation Elchin Zeynalov, Executive Director Rovshan Karimov and organization's Technical Director Leyla Aliyeva
The International Canoe Federation (ICF) is the umbrella organization of all national canoe organizations worldwide. It is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, and administers all aspects of canoe sport worldwide.
The congress is being held once in two years.
Rowing developed quickly in Azerbaijan with the establishment of the National Rowing Federation (AMAF) in December 2006.
As a member of the International Rowing Federation (FISA) and the International Canoe Federation (ICF), the AMAF is now participating in various international competitions and European and world championships.
This year, Azerbaijani athletes secured the country’s first-ever Olympic medals in canoe. Canoe sprinter Valentin Demyanenko won silver in Men's Canoe Single 200m, while rower Inna Osypenko-Radomska took the Olympic bronze in women’s 200 meters kayak single.
