Mariya Stadnik tops UWW ranking

Azerbaijan's freestyle wrestler Mariya Stadnik (48kg) showed the best result among world athletes in the United World Wrestling rankings for women, azerisport.com reported.

Stadnik is a world and European champion in freestyle wrestling. Furthermore, Stadnik competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics and won a bronze and a silver, respectively.

National athlete Tatiana Omelchenko (60 kg) comes third in the list, while Natalya Sinishin (58 kg) is ranked eight. Another national athlete Yuliya Ratkevich (58 kg) became 9th.

Notably, Azerbaijan will be represented by 14 wrestlers, including Mariya Stadnik  Yuliya Ratkevich  at 2016 Rio Olympics scheduled for August 14-21.

More than 10,500 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees, including first time entrants Kosovo and South Sudan, are scheduled to take part.

With 306 sets of medals, The games will feature 28 Olympic sports — including rugby sevens and golf, which were added by the International Olympic Committee in 2009. These sporting events will take place at 33 venues in the host city and at 5 venues in the cities of Brazilian Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Brasilia and Manaus cities.
