17 June 2016 [19:30] - TODAY.AZ

The Baku City Circuit of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe is very demanding in all aspects, the Williams team’s driver Valtteri Bottas told reporters June 17.

The second practice session went well, said Bottas, adding that the F1 drivers start to get a grasp of the track and understand how their cars should be configured.

Praising the circuit, Bottas expressed confidence that the highest speeds could be reached on the track.

Formula One’s highest speed record of 351 km per hour has been reached by Williams’s Valtteri Bottas at the 2016 F1 Grand Prix of Europe First Practice Session.

Azerbaijan is hosting the 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe for the first time June 17 – June 19. The Baku circuit, which is slightly over 6 kilometers, will have the racers to go 51 laps. Overall, 11 teams, each with two drivers, will compete in the race.

The race layout incorporates the medieval walls of the old city (Icheri Sheher) and a long high-speed blast along the shores of the Caspian Sea. The maximum estimated speed at the race is 340 km/h.

GP2 first race, Formula 1 third practice session and Formula 1 qualifying will be held on the second day of the races on June 18, while the GP2 second race and 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe will be held on the last day of the races, June 19.
