Romain Grosjean: One of my best friend lives in Baku

25 May 2016 [13:19] - TODAY.AZ
nterview with the Haas F1 team, Romain Grosjean
What could you say about Baku City Circuit layout? Have you already tested it in the factory simulator?

Romain Grosjean (RG): “I have tried it in the simulator. It’s a combination of very long straight lines, ninety degree corners, then the very narrow port part of the city going up close to the castle. I’m looking forward to seeing it in reality, it looks a very scenic place.”

What do you know about Baku and Azerbaijan?

RG: “I just know that one of my best friends, Chef Akrane, has a restaurant there, it’s called Atelier Vivanda. I know I’ll be having a nice piece of steak that weekend!”

What can you say about your season started?

RG: “It’s been a pretty amazing start to the season. We’ve had a few small difficulties since Australia and Bahrain but we’re learning and improving all the time. I’m sure we’re going to keep progressing, everyone is working extremely hard.”

What do you make first after arriving to new country/track?

RG: “It’s always difficult when you arrive in a new country as you go straight from the airport to the hotel, then usually straight to the circuit. There aren’t many chances for us to go out and explore with media day on Thursday’s, then on-track activities from Friday to Sunday. Hopefully I’ll have the chance to see some of Baku but it’s always a bit tricky.”

If you could choose one F1 car, one team mate, one F1 era – what would it be?

RG: “I like the mid-nineties era of F1. The Williams cars from that time are probably my favourite. For a team-mate, I’d go with Jules Bianchi.”

Some lifestyle questions:

What would you do in the world without racing?

RG: “Without racing I’d probably be an aerodynamic engineer.”

Which book have you read in this year?

RG: “The last book I read was ‘The Core’ by Aki Hintsa.”

Could you name TOP-3 of the last music albums?

RG: “Last couple of music purchases were Lukas Graham and Justin Bieber.”

Which film are you waiting the most?

RG: “I’ve got a bunch of films that I keep to watch on the plane when we’re traveling, too many to name.”

Please describe the following persons/things in three words:

1. Esteban Gutierrez – ‘Mexican, Young, Fast.’
2. Bernie Ecclestone – ‘Clever, Funny, F1.’
3. Fernando Alonso – ‘Experienced! He shares a birthday with my son and he’s very fast.”
4. Formula 1 – ‘Sexy, Fast, Challenging.’
5. 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe – ‘New, Interesting, Surprising.’

What can you say to your fans in Azerbaijan?

RG: “I’m very happy to go to Baku for the first time and discover a new country. I hope we put on a good show on a special track.”
