Rhythmic and Trampoline gymnasts’ joint competition end

Rhythmic gymnasts’ competitions held within the framework of Azerbaijan Championship and Jumpers’ events within Azerbaijan and Baku Championship among Age Categories came to an end at the National Gymnastics Arena on May 14.

Among seniors in Rhythmic Gymnastics, national team’s member Zhala Piriyeva won Azerbaijan Champion’s title leaving behind Marina Durunda, who has a ticket for Rio 2016.

Zhala, a repeated winner and medalist of international events, became the country’s Champion in the senior all-around program for the first time having received 73.517 points.

Durunda was awarded with silver medal (72.900), while Gulsum Shafizada won the bronze (69.200).

In the finals of the Rhythmic Gymnastics among juniors, a strong rivalry were mainly observed among Ilaha Mammadova (1st place – a ball, clubs; 2nd place – a rope, a hoop), Zohra Aghamirova (1st place – a rope, a hoop; 2nd place – a ball; 3rd place – clubs), Veronika Hudis (2nd place - clubs), Darya Farshbafshahriyari (2nd place – a hoop; 3rd place – a ball) and Darya Sorokina (3rd place - a rope).

Girls Ilaha Mammadova, Veronika Hudis, Zohra Aghamirova and Darya Sorokina will take part in the juniors’ most important event of the year -- the Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships scheduled for June 17-19 in Israeli city of Holon.

Winners in certain age categories at Trampoline Gymnastics and Tumbling Championship among Age Categories taking place simultaneously with the Azerbaijan Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship, also announced. The winners were awarded in four age groups in tumbling competitions held on May 12. Mikhail Malkin (seniors), Farid Mustafayev (juniors), Adil Hajizada (pre-juniors) Mahammadali Jamalov (youngsters) became winners among men, while Zeynab Gasimli (pre-juniors) and Aliya Ismayilova (youngsters) have been awarded among women.

During trampoline gymnastics’ competitions held on May 13, men competed in 3 age groups. Leader of the national team Ilya Grishunin won Azerbaijan Champion's title in the senior gymnasts’ events this year as well. His teammates Oleg Piunov and Dmitriy Fedorovskiy shared the second and third places respectively.

The competitions in Trampoline Gymnastics continued with a contest of men within one age group and within four age groups among women. Huseyn Abbasov (children) among men, Sviatlana Makshtarova (seniors), Seljan Mahsudova (pre-juniors), Kamilla Rasulova (children) and Violetta Sorokina (minors) among women were distinguished at the event.

Gymnasts beautified the floor with their eye-catching performances at traditional Gala-concert at the end of the tournament.
