Int’l track and field tournament wraps up in Baku

The 8th international Aleksandr Antipov track and field tournament was held in Baku on January 28-30.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the tournament, President of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation Chingiz Huseynzade highlighted the state attention to the sports, and achievements of Azerbaijani athletes on the international scene.

Member of the State Assembly of the Republic Sakha (Yakutia), Director of the Center of the National kinds of Sports Innokenti Grigoryev, in turn, hailed the achievements of Azerbaijani sportsmen, and stressed the importance of the tournament.

The tournament brought together athletes from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Cuba, Kazakhstan and Russia.

In the killi category among women, Azerbaijani athlete Yelena Pekhtireva took the first place. The gold medal in the competition among juniors went to the athlete from Kazakhstan, Rasul Usimatov. In the men’s competition Alexis Copello won the gold

In instanga competition among women Russian athlete Sayana Batarina claimed the gold, while in men’s competition the winner became Rasul Usimatov.

In Koubax competition Russian Batarina, Vadim Boskachin (juniors) and Vladislav Popov (men) took the first place.
