Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Artistic, Acrobatic Gymnastics ends

The first week of chilly December made the gymnastics fans happy, as the Joint Azerbaijan Championships among Age Categories in Artistic and Acrobatic Gymnastics was held in the capital.

Athletes of different Azerbaijani schools come together at Baku’s National Gymnastics Arena between December 3 and 5 to show their skill and compete for the titles.

The three-day competition brought together 62 athletes from Baku Gymnastics School, "Neftchi" Sports Club, Nizami district Sports School and National Olympic Sports School.

On the first day, the acrobats aged between 12 and 18, included in the men's and women’s mixed pair competitions, as well as men's and women's groups showed balance, tempo and combined exercises. The women’s pairs and groups belonging to 11-16 age group performed only execute balance and dynamic exercises. Overall, 43 gymnasts took part in the tournament.

In the competition of the women's groups aged 12-18 representatives of the BGS Leyla Bashirova, Aygun Ahmadova and Nazrin Farmanova won the first place. Representatives of the Nizami district sports school Samira Ibrahimova, Ulviya Isgandarli and Maryam Gurbanova took the second place. The third place, in turn, went to the athletes of the “Neftchi” sports club including Elvira Huseynova, Arzu Melekzade and Fatima Nazarova.

In the women’s groups competitions among athletes aged 11- 16, the representatives of “Nefthci” club Samra Askarzade, Mina Beydiyeva and Jeyla Zekiryayeva secured the first place, followed by athletes of Nizami district sports school and BGS.

The women's pairs competition ended with the victory of the gymnasts of BGS, which representatives also took the third place. The acrobats from "Neftchi" won the silver medals.

In men’s pair belonging to 12-18 age group, the first and third places went to representatives of BGS, while the second place went to athletes from the Nizami district sport school.

The second day saw the competition among athletes born in 2003-2005, where representative of BGS Samira Gahramanova took the first place, while Milana Minakovskaya (“Ojag”) ranked the second and Valeriya Shulyayeva (BG S) the third.

The competition of gymnasts born in 2006-2007 ended with the victory of Nazenin Teymurova (“Ojag”). The second place went to Aliya Rustamova (“Ojag”) and the third place to Valeriya Shulayeva (BGS)

In the competition among acrobats born in 2008-2009 the whole podium went to the representatives of the “Ojag" sports club including Narmin Abdullayeva, Denise Aliyev and Leyla Zamanova.

In the beginners competitions held between athletes born in 2008-2010 Milan Aliyev (BGS) won the gold. Duygu Medjidzade (“Ojag") took the silver and Esmeralda Hasanova (BGS) claimed the bronze.

On the third day male acrobats, including minors (2007-2008), children (2005-2006), juniors (1998-2000), pre-juniors (2001-2002) and youngsters (2003-2004) participated in all around.

In the competition among minors, representatives of BGS Ali Khalilov and Chingiz Khalilov took the first and second places, accordingly. Shamkhal Ahmadov from National Olympic Sports School placed the third.

In children competition, all three winners were representatives of BGS, namely Rasul Ahmadzade, Aydin Alizade and Anar Hasanov.

Among juniors, all three places were taken by acrobats from NOSS, including Sarvar Aliyev, Murad Agarzayev and Cavidan Babayev.

The competition among pre-juniors athletes finished with the victory of BGS’s representative Samad Mammadli, and his team mate Agamurad Gahramanov placed the second. Maxim Lisagor from NOSS claimed the third.

In youngsters competition all three medals went to BGS’s representatives including Ramin Damirov, Raig Orujov and Mansum Safarov .
