A meeting of the Executive Committee of Azerbaijan’s Triathlon Federation was held in Baku on November 24, discussing the holding of National Championship.

During the discussions, the members of the Executive Committee decided to postpone the Aquathlon Championship till end of May in order to hold it in the triathlon format.

Previously the Federation planned to hold the championship in early February 2016.

Aquathlon is an underwater sport where two competitors wearing masks and fins wrestle underwater in an attempt to remove a ribbon from each other's ankle band in order to win the bout.

A triathlon is a multiple-stage competition involving the completion of three continuous and sequential endurance disciplines, with the most popular form involving swimming, cycling, and running in immediate succession over various distances.

Earlier in June, the first triathlon competition in Baku, involving some 130 athletes including 65 men and 65 women was held as part of the 1st European Games.
