Azerbaijani racer best in V1 Challenge Bulgaria

The exciting 2015 V1 Challenge Bulgaria was held on the Bulgarian freeway Karting Pista Varna on August 30, featuring nine racers from Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.

17 year-old Azerbaijani driver Gulhuseyn Abdullayev has won the third stage of V1 Challenge, reaching the final at a track time of 42.75 seconds.

Commenting on his victory Gulhuseyn said, “I am very happy for my victory. In this race I did much better, because I was in the lead from the beginning. I like the track a lot because I'm a kart racer. I hope to participate in future competitions.”

Bulgarian Simeon Donov ranked second, followed by his teammate Grigor Grigorov.

Abdullayev, who took part in the championship with the support of the Automobile Federation and the Azerbaijan Youth and Sport Ministry, also came in first in the qualifying round.

It is his second victory in the V1 Challenge Bulgaria. In 2014 Gulhuseyn also won the competition, becoming the youngest participant of the championship.

The competition is dedicated to the memory of the Bulgarian pilot Todor Slavov, who died in a crash on the "Tvarditsa-Elena" rally on June 28. The competition theme was "Champion didn’t died - he has become a legend."

Gulhuseyn became interested in karting at the age of 8. Incidentally at this age, he even took part in the parade of Formula 1 in Istanbul.

So far, Abdullayev has participated in many international championships.

He is recognized as one of the best racers in Turkey in 2013.

Earlier in July, Gulhuseyn took the first place in the RMC DD 2 karting race in Turkey.

In the same year, he performed at the "Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals" world karting championships, which was held in New Orleans (USA), and for the first time raised the Azerbaijani flag at such a prestigious international championship.
