The 28th Universiade Summer Games is underway in Gwangju, Korea.
Some 20,000 participants from 170 countries including athletes and officials have gathered in Gwangju. The athletes are competing in 21 sporting events including 13 compulsory sports and eight optional sports
Azerbaijan is represented by eight athletes, who compete in athletics, judo, and fencing disciplines.
National athlete Hanna Skydan won gold medal at the Universiade. She secured the medal in the hammer throw event.
Runner Hayle Ibrahimov claimed gold in the men`s 5000m race. He secured the medal after timing 13:44.28.
Huseyn Rahimli (weighing 73kg) earned bronze medal at judo defeating his rival Japanese Yamamoto Yuji at the final.
Azerbaijanhas finished the Universiade with a tally of three medals, including two gold and a bronze.
The Universiade will last until July 14.
