Turkey to send 153 athletes to Baku 2015

Azerbaijan’s historic event Baku 2015 European Games continues to attract sportsmen from all around Europe.

An exciting and innovative new multi-sport event of the continent will include 20 sports, 16 of which are Olympic, during the 17 days of competition in June 12-28. 6,000 athletes will prove themselves in Baku.

Neighboring Turkey will be presented by 153 athletes, 63 females and 90 males, in 20 sports, the country’s National Olympic Committee reported.

During the first European Games, one athlete will represent Turkey in the competitions on track and field athletics, four athletes – shooting, 8 – basketball, 4 – rhythmic gymnastics, 13 – boxing, 3 – fencing, two - table tennis, one – sambo, 12 – swimming, 6 – cycling, 24- wrestling, 11- karate, 2- archery, 4 - beach volleyball, 3 – triathlon, 2 – judo, 10 - synchronized swimming, 13 - water polo, 24 – volleyball, 6 – canoeing.

Earlier, the Danish Olympic Committee has named its first five athletes for the inaugural event. Nearly 300 athletes will represent Russia in the event, Serbia will send 79 sportsmen.

The host country Azerbaijan will be presented by about 320 athletes at the Games.
