Open Gymnastics Championship continues

The second day of competitions within the Open Joint Azerbaijan Championships in Gymnastics Disciplines kicked off on March5.

The test championship on the eve of the European Games is underway in the Azerbaijani capital on March 4-6. Coming from 22 countries, 133 gymnasts will compete for medals both in the all-around and the individual competitions.

Azerbaijani gymnasts Pleg Puinov and Sabina Zayceva won second place in the individual trampoline competition on the second day.

Both of the sportsmen will compete for medals in the final.

Another national gymnast Ruslan Agamirov and Dmitriy Fedorovskiy also took a chance to participate in the final.

In synchronized trampoline among men two Azerbaijani teams earned the right to participate in the final of the championship. Due of Ilya Grishanin and Oleg Puinov reached the final from the fourth place, while duo of Agamirov and Federovskiy from the fifth place.

In aerobics competitions the national team took the third place in qualifying and will compete for medals on March 6.

Azerbaijani couple Ekaterina Kotlarova and Tumir Alekperov which took the third place will also compete for the gold on the final day of the competitions.

Gymnastics is one of the 20 sports of the inaugural European Games that will be held in Baku on June 12-28. Baku 2015 will attract more than 6,000 athletes to represent 50 countries.
