The European Judo Union is considering the possibility of holding the European Championship in Baku as part of the first European Games, Sergey Soloveitchik, Head of the European Judo Union told TASS.

He said that the decision on this issue will be made within the next 10 days.

The championship was expected to be held in Glasgow. But, Glasgow failed to obtain the right to host the European Championship due to its non-compliance with contractual obligations of the British Judo Association.

"As the British side violated several conditions of the contract for holding the European Championship, the Directorate of the European Judo Union unanimously decided to terminate the contract and not to hold the competition in Glasgow,” he said.

“We immediately received the proposals from the French, Dutch, Turkish and Finnish judo federations to hold the tournament. We are also considering the possibility of holding the tournament as part of the first European Games in Baku. "

Baku 2015 is the first European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent, which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
