City Aerobics Championships wrapped up in Baku on February 7.

Despite the fact that the country holds the competition in this sport for first time, the hall of the National Gymnastics Arena was incredibly full.

Everyone came to support the gymnasts. Perhaps that is why a warm atmosphere was in the hall.

It is worth noting that the championships were held at the highest level and the gymnasts were well prepared.

Even those who were out of the competition due to lacking the license of the International Gymnastics Federation competed at the championship.

Anastasiya Koltunova won the gold of the competition among seniors. Yekaterina Kotliarova became the second and Aleksandra Gorobchuk won the bronze medal.

Fatima Babaeva, Amina Zamanova and Melek Kerimova took the first three places respectively. Farida Agayeva, Khadija Guliyeva and Leila Bezhanova became the medalists among the youngest participants.

Aerobics was officially recognized as a discipline at the 70th Congress of the International Gymnastics Federation in 1996 and since then competitions in this field have been widely held throughout the world.

In Azerbaijan, aerobics has made great development since last year. This year, this gymnastic discipline will be presented at the Open Championships of the country, as well as at the European Games, which will be held in June in the capital of the country. A group of five people and a mixed pair will represent the country in the competition.
