During the event the active sportsmen in 2014 were awarded with special prizes.

The Azerbaijan Cycling Federation was also awarded with special prize for being the most active federation in the country.

Rahimov presented the award to Farhad Aliyev, Secretary-General of the Federation.

The first professional cycling competition was held in Azerbaijan in May 2012 with the participation of 17 teams from 15 countries.

Holding the annual cycling competition in Azerbaijan shows the rising domestic interest in the sports.

Lack of cycling tracks and cycling sport infrastructure are obstacles in the way of speedy development of the sports in the city, but the state has taken some measures to develop cycling. A bike park was recently opened in Baku. The government is also planning to construct some cycling tracks.

Azerbaijan will ensure the establishment of schools and clubs for cycling in the near future, ACF Vice President Sahib Alekperov said earlier.
