The Dry-tooling Championship came to an end in Baku on December 28.
Organized by the Federation of Air and Extreme Sports (FAIREX), the competition was held at ClimBaku Center.
The qualifying round of the champion was held on December 20, where about 100 sportsmen from more than 30 clubs of Azerbaijani regions took part.
At the final, 18 boys and 8 girls competed for the first title. Meanwhile, sportsmen from neighboring countries including Turkey, Georgia, Iran and Dagestan took part in the intense struggle.
In men’s group, Rinat Rahimkhanov (Azerbaijan), Lasha Mitaishvili (Georgia) and Ilia Berulova (Georgia) gained the first, second and third places respectively.
Anna Dularidze (Georgia) became the first in women’s group. Shahida Gasimova (Azerbaijan) took the second and Fidan Novruzova (Azerbaijan) the third places.
In clubs’ category, Salavat Sports Club took the first place with Caucasus Sport Club and Georgian National Mountaineering Federation taking the second and third places respectively.
Following the competition, winners were awarded with medals and diplomas by the Azerbaijani Youth and Sport Minister. The FAIREX and Federation of Associations of Mountain Extreme Sports of Azerbaijan presented special prizes to the winners.
Dry-tooling is one of the developing sports in the region. It is a kind of ice climbing on non-ice surface, using ice climbing equipment.
Earlier in December, the national team, successfully participated in the dry-tooling competition, held in Montana, U.S.
