Azerbaijan’s gymnasts gain successes in Aeon Cup

Aeon Cup, one of the most important gymnastics events of the year, was held in Japan on October 17-19.

The best 18 clubs of the world competed in Tokyo. Each team consisted of 3 gymnasts, including two senior gymnasts and a junior gymnast.

Azerbaijan's Ocaq Sport Club composed of Marina Durunda, Gulsum Sharifzada and Jale Piriyeva took the fifth place in the competition.

Junior gymnast Jale Piriyeva made a good performance and took the honored third place, gaining a high mark for her bright and catchy performances with ball, ribbon, clubs and hoop in individual competition.

Russian Veronika Polakova took the first place, followed by a gymnast from Belarus Maria Trubach.

In parallel, the 14th tournament Berlin Masters 2014 Rhythmic Gymnastics was held in Max-Schmeling-Hull in Germany.

As many as 13 countries attended the competition, where Azerbaijani gymnast Ayshan Bayramova took the 10th place, gaining 60.400 points for her performances.

Meanwhile, the third International tournament "Juldiz Cup 2014" wrapped up in Astana, Kazakhstan on October 17.

Sportsmen from nine countries born in 1998 and under participated at the tournament.

Eight Azerbaijani junior gymnasts under the direction of coach Sevil Mammadova took part in the competition. Fatima Shafizade and Kamilla Mammadov represented the country in the judiciary.

The big surprise was the gold medal, won by one of the youngest national gymnasts of 2007 birth Fatima Mammadzada.

Moreover, in the competition of athletes born in 2004, Azerbaijani Narmina Samadova took the silver medal with ball and rope, and another team member Alina Gozalova (2006) became the winner of the bronze medal.
