Legend of Azerbaijani football passes away

otball team, member of the Executive Committee of AFFA, the holder of Shohrat Order Alakbar Mammadov has died at the age of 84.

Alakbar Mammadov was born in Baku on May 9, 1930. He played in Neftyanik Baku from 1948-1953, and continued his career in Dinamo Moscow from 1954. He was a four-time champion player in the Soviet Top League and a member of the Soviet national team.

He scored 56 goals in the Soviet Top League in his 185 appearances.

He won the European Cup in 1958. In 1960 he returned to Neftyanik Baku. Mammadov ended his career in the end of 1962. He managed Neftchi and the Azerbaijan national football team.

Mammadov scored four goals against Milan at the San Siro Stadium on September 4, 1955.
