Xavi leaves Barcelona

18 June 2014 [16:40] - TODAY.AZ
Al Arabi manager Dan Petrescu has claimed Barcelona star Xavi Hernández has agreed to join his side. The former Chelsea defender insists the Spain international has already signed a pre-contract agreement with the Qatari club.

The midfielder has spent his entire career with the Catalan giants but it seems his time at the Nou Camp is coming to an end with Al Arabi seemingly in the driving seat to sign him.

That is what can be assumed also from the half-hour meeting between the player's agent, the club's director of football Andoni Zubizarreta and president Josep Maria Bartomeu, which took place on Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports by 'RAC1', the Catalan club will allow the midfielder to leave if that is what he decides. He is currently focussing on the Brazil World Cup with Spain. In any event, Xavi's future will be settled after the tournament, but all indications are that he will not be wearing the 'Azulgrana' stripes next season.

In addition to the meeting, the uncertainty over his future has been fuelled by statements from Cesc Fàbregas claiming that his former teammate is looking to "follow a less demanding path".
