Slow and steady wins the race. This is the motto by which Arda Turan has been swearing since his body said "enough is enough" in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Camp Nou. Since then, the playmaker has gone to great lengths to shake off his groin trouble once and for all so that he is pain-free going into the last few games of the season.
Turan has missed four matches since then - three league fixtures and the return leg against Barcelona - and, though Atlético came out victorious in all four, there is no doubt the Turk has been missed too.
The approach has paid dividends, however. Turan has been able to race through his last few solo training sessions and resumed full squad training on Sunday morning, putting him well on course to feature in the Champions League midweek.
