Barcelona didn't value me, says Figo

15 February 2014 [10:05] - TODAY.AZ
Portugal legend Luis Figo says he left Barcelona for Real Madrid in 2000 because he did not feel appreciated at Camp Nou.

The 41-year-old had spend five glittering years at Camp Nou, but made a controversial move to the Bernabeu after a dispute over his contract in Catalunya.

And Figo says he decided to cross the Clasico divide because he felt Madrid wanted him more than Barca at the time.

"They didn't treat me well, that made me angry," he is quoted as saying by Sport.

"Even though time went by, I was still angry and irritated because those responsible for the club did not value me.

"I was the player the president [Florentino Perez] wanted. I don't know what happened. One minute, I went to the bench without explanation.

"I felt that it was a way to hurt me."

However, Figo refused to pick a favourite between current Barca star Lionel Messi and former Portugal team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Messi and Ronaldo are both fantastic. I'd like to have both players in my team."
