Azerbaijan's champion in rhythmic gymnastics pulled off stunning victory at the traditional Italian championship in the A1 series on rhythmic gymnastics.
Marina Durunda gained 16.65 points in the exercise with a ribbon, marking the highest achievement in the tournament.
Italian Armonia d'Abruzzo club came out the winner due to Durunda's outstanding performance, gaining 97 points and leaving many teams behind.
The Azerbaijani champion who is now an Italian champion too said November was very good for her.
"I will try to continue to achieve excellent results, and I am looking forward to 2014," she said. "There are the European championship in Baku and the world forum in Izmir and many other important steps and tournaments."
Earlier, Durunda won the 20th Azerbaijan Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship which was held in Ismayilli.
Rhythmic gymnastics was particularly promoted after Azerbaijani First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva became the president of Azerbaijan's Gymnastics Federation in 2002, and involved herself in developing and popularizing the disciplines of gymnastics in Azerbaijan.
