Barca's transfer radar lights on Uruguayan youngster

27 July 2013 [08:45] - TODAY.AZ
Barcelona is interested in signing Giorgian De Arrascaeta, the Uruguayan attacking midfielder who plays for Defensor Sporting and excelled during the FIFA U-20 World Cup where the Montevideo based club finished runner-up.

"Talks are only just starting. Negotiations will be held directly between the two clubs. Initially one of their scouts called us. He asked what the price tag was and we agreed that within hours we would talk to the Board" Daniel Jablonka, president of Defensor Sporting, told Uruguayan newspaper, 'El Observador'.

Jablonka did not confirm whether their interest would be for the first team or whether, if the transfer finally goes ahead, De Arrascaeta will play for Barça B. "It is an honour for the player, for the institution, and whatever happens, the mere fact that a club like Barcelona is interested in Giorgian is a source of pride, whether it's for the first team or the B team." he added.

In an interview during the U-20 World Cup, in which Uruguay eliminated Spain in extra time, Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui claimed that De Arrascaeta would sign for Sevilla.
