Real fans say bring Bale and Gundogan

29 May 2013 [11:27] - TODAY.AZ
Gareth Bale and Ilkay Gündogan are the players needed to shore up Real Madrid's attack and midfield line up, according to the results of a MARCA.com poll in which almost 200,000 fans took part. Bale secured 64.5% of the total votes, ahead of Cavani and Agüero, and in the case of Gündogan (57.8%), the German international reigned supreme over Arturo Vidal and Geoffrey Kondogbia.

The club has been working on putting together its squad for the new season over recent weeks and now the supporters have had their say. The 197,202 readers who voted in the poll opted, by a large majority, for the Tottenham and Dortmund players. Of the candidates proposed for attack, 127,233 votes went to Bale, the British player beating Cavani (Napoli) and Agüero (Manchester City). 114,002 people opted for Gündogan over Vidal (Juventus) and Kondogbia (Sevilla).

Bale is currently involved in negotiations to renew his contract with Tottenham. Villas-Boas, his coach, has previously expressed opposition to his transfer on several occasions. Real has, however, been interested in the player for some time, Zidane having been given the task of monitoring his progress throughout this season.

Gündogan's price tag is around €25 million. His salary is €1.4 million per year. An impressive Champions League performance has attracted attention from the big European clubs.
