Rabita Baku beats Italy`s AsystelCarnaghi VILLA CORTESE

The Azerbaijan women`s volleyball club Rabita Baku claimed on Thursday their second win in the prelims of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League as they got past Italy`s AsystelCarnaghi VILLA CORTESE in four sets (25-15, 22-25, 25-21, and 25-22) at “Sarhadchi Olympic Centre”.

The first set was clearly dominated by Rabita (25-15) via the attacks of Colombian Madelaynne Montano who was well supported by US American middle blocker Foluke Akinradewo and Polish setter Katarzyna Skorupa. The hosts set the pace of the game also in the second set but VILLA CORTESE got closer in the end and could go for the 1:1 (22-25). Montano and Natasa Krsmanovic stood out for Rabita in the third set where the Azeris kept the lead from the start up to the very end (25-21) before in set 4 Baku had to fight back from 13:19 to eventually finish it off at 25-22.
