Azerbaijani sumo fighters win 'gold' in European championship

Azerbaijani sumo fighters performed brilliantly at the European sumo championship in Ukraine.
The winner of the last year championship of Europe Zaur Kerimov (65 kg) and the prize winner in 2010 world championship Amiraslan Ahmadov (100 kg) rose to the highest stage of pedestal.
The multifold prize winner and finalist of European championships Samir Ismaylov won two gold awards and became the best in the weight below 60 kg both among cadets younger than 18 and in the contest of youth younger than 21.

Rasul Eldarzade (90 kg) won silver after he lost in the youth contests. Bronze awards among cadets went to Kamran Rzayev (70 kg) and Sardar Sefikhanov (75 kg) and among youth Amrah Ahmadov (70 kg) and the winner of the world championship 2010 Namig Sadikhov (85 kg). Emil Hasanov became third among men below 70 kg.

The national team of Azerbaijan appeared in the team contests among youth and after defeating the teams from Estonia (3:0), Hungary (3:0) and Ukraine (2:1) lost in the final to the national team of Russia (1:2) thus winning silver. Sadig Ahmadov, Namik Sadikhov, Tahir Aliyev and Amiraslan Ahmadov performed within our team.

According to the head of the federation, after a small vacation, the national team of Azerbaijan will start preparations for the international contest Baku Sumo Open-2012 (29 September, Baku, Azerbaijan) and 2012 world championship (Hong Kong, China, 26-30 October).
Taking into account sums of medals gained recently, President of the Azerbaijan Sumo Federation Samir Abdullayev was elected as a vice president of the European Sumo Federation.
