Cup of Nakhchivan in Greco-Roman wrestling starts

The international youth team contest in Greco-Roman wrestling Cup of Nakhchivan on the Day of National Salvation started at the Olympic sport complex named after Ilham Aliyev in Nakhchivan.

According to the news service for the Wrestling Federation of Azerbaijan, before the opening ceremony, Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov and representatives of the Wrestling Federation visited the memorial to national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Speaking in the ceremony, chairman of the Supreme Council of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov and Azad Rahimov noted that the second return of Heydar Aliyev to power is an important date in the history of modern Azerbaijan.

The anthem of the Azerbaijan Republic was voiced then and the official part of the event came to an end after which the draw of the contest was held. By its results group A involved the teams of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Iran. Group B involves Nakhchivan, Turkey, Ukraine and Georgia.

The preliminary contests are held in one round after which the holders of the first places reach the final and the runners-up will fight for the bronze awards.

The final fights are due tomorrow.
