Azerbaijan, Georgia confirm intention to host Euro 2020

Azerbaijan has agreed on holding UEFA Euro 2020 jointly with Georgia and announced it at the FIFA Congress today, the president of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan, Rovnag Abdullayev, told reporters on Thursday.

Budapest hosts the FIFA Congress on May 24-25, attended by AFFA Secretary General Elkhan Mammadov.

Abdullayev said that due to the fact that Azerbaijan claimed to host the Olympic Games in 2020, the decision on Euro 2020 was not made.

However, after Baku failed to become a Candidate City, decision on the joint bid of Azerbaijan and Georgia to host UEFA Euro 2020 was taken.
