Police officer killed in road accident in Azerbaijan, three injured

A fatal road accident happened on Baku-Shamakhi highway in Gobustan on August 31. Local police said that VAZ 2107 driven by traffic police sergeant Abdullayev Ilgar Abdulla, 29 collided with oncoming Hyundai.

Traffic police sergeant Mammadov Shahin Khalig, 28, who was in VAZ 2107, was killed at site.

VAZ driver Ilgar Abdullayev, as well as Hyundai’s driver and passenger Gurbanov Shamo Nurali and Mahmudov Dashgin Mirdamat were injured.

Ilgar Abdullayev and Shahin Mammadov were cousins and joined the traffic police recently. It was their first working day in traffic police on August 31.

The district prosecutor’s police is investigating the incident.
