German newspapers highlight Azerbaijan

Germany's Frankfurter Rundschau and Berliner Zeitung newspapers published articles "Swan clocks in Caucasus" and "Respect of Petroleum" articles respectively on the basis of a report on prepared by German journalist Sasha Lubben.

The author described cities of Baku and Shaki, Goygol region as tourism destination, provided insight into the history and culture of Azerbaijan. Lubben provided information about places in Baku that could be interesting for tourists as the Azerbaijan`s capital is going to host the Eurovision-2012 song contest.

The reports gives background of Azerbaijan's fire worship past, Arab, Mongol invasions, resettlement of Christian Armenians, division of Azerbaijan between Iran and Russia, history of oil industry.

The report quoted Tourism and Culture Minister Garayev as saying that Azerbaijan plays a role of bridge between continents.

The author provides information about the Khan palace in Shaki and history of Germans in Goygol region.
