Issues of intangible cultural heritage discussed in Minsk

A meeting and training of coordinating expert group and UNESCO Moscow bureau on theme "Strengthening of national potential for the protection of intangible cultural heritage" was organized between May 19 and 21 in Minsk, Belarus.

Azerbaijan was represented by Yashar Huseynli, Head of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Division, Cultural Policy Department (Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan) and Narmina Chendirli, 3rd Secretary of UNESCO National Commission's Permanent Secretariat.

The meeting focused on the role of states, societies and other structures in definition of intangible cultural heritage, its documenting and listing.

The Azeri ministry of culture and tourism introduced results of the monitoring of intangible cultural heritage of Azerbaijan (study of local lore, folklore and handicraft), draft-project of the protection of intangible cultural heritage and other programs.
