Ambassador: Azerbaijani citizens temporarily living in Tokyo not injured

After the earthquake, Azerbaijani Embassy in Japan contacted with all Azerbaijani citizens temporarily living in Tokyo and found that none of them has injured, Azerbaijani ambassador to Japan Azer Huseynov told Trend.

"We can not be completely sure that none of the Azerbaijan citizens has injured, but at this time, all citizens, with whom we have contact, are safe," said the ambassador.

The ambassador said because of poor telephone and mobile phone communication, it is still impossible to contact with the Azerbaijanis living in other cities in Japan, but the embassy officials are trying to contact with them.

The Azerbaijani embassy in Japan has not yet received any information about the Azerbaijani citizens affected by earthquake, the ambassador told Trend earlier.

The Azerbaijani embassy is now working in emergency mode and if necessary, ready to render any assistance to fellow citizens, he said.

Huseynov said over 50 Azerbaijani citizens temporarily live and study in Japan, of them about 30 live in Tokyo and the rest in other cities.
