
The Azerbaijani Education Ministry in January received complaints related to the collection of money at schools for the purchase of technical equipment, and the sale of various publications, the ministry reported on Wednesday.
The complaints received by the ministry’s hotline service also relate to the lack of central heating system at schools.
In January 2011, the ministry received 910 appeals, including 100 complaints, of which 35 relate to midyear exams in the universities. Students mainly complain of biased estimation and ask for review of exam decisions. The Ministry together with the academic institutions’ representatives conducted an investigation and provided an objective evaluation of students' knowledge in accordance with the presented results of the examinations.
The ministry also received complaints by graduates of the private universities over delaying the issuance of diplomas.
