75 meter-long bridge collapsed in Azerbaijan

16 February 2011 [11:44] - TODAY.AZ
A 75 meter-long bridge collapsed in Shaki region, Azerbaijan, deputy chairman of the emergency situations commission of Shaki region Valeh Alakbarov said.

Reportedly, the collapse occured on the 35th meter of the 75 meter-long bridge, which itself was built on the Kish River in 1996. The bridge collapsed as KamAZ loaded with bricks crossed it. Since the bridge collapsed gradually, no one got hurt. However, the sedan car, which was following the Kamaz, fell into the river. The driver and the passengers were not hurt.

As a result of all this, contact with Shaki and Kish village was suspended, but as there was no water in the Kish River, an alternative road was made in a short time.

The employees of the emergency situations commission of Shaki and representatives of relevant bodies have started reconstructing the bridge.
