
1700 patients with diabetes mellitus were registered in the unoccupied territories of Agdam region in 2010. Spread of various diseases has recently increased in Karabakh region, Agdam central hospital told APA’s Karabakh bureau.
Hospital said that the majority of them are nervous diseases. Diabetes mellitus has increased the most. 1700 patients with diabetes mellitus were registered in the unoccupied territories of Agdam region in 2010. In 2008-2009 there were approximately 400.
Head physician of Agdam Central Hospital Gulnar Abbasova told APA’s Karabakh bureau that the number rose from 400 to 1700 because the patients with diabetes mellitus have not been registered before. According to the doctor, the disease has spread especially in the frontline settlements, because the residents are living in constant nervous tension and have malnutrition.
Head physician said patients with diabetes mellitus are supplied with free medicine. She added that there is serious difference between the real number of the patients and those supplied with free medicines. Therefore, Central Regional Hospital appealed to the Health Ministry.
Abbasova noted that recently, increase of cardiovascular, neurosis, hypertension (high blood pressure) and skin diseases give rise to anxiety. To her, wide spread of cardiovascular, neurosis, hypertension diseases is similar to the reason of creation of diabetes.
Chief Doctor assessed spread of diabetes and diabetes insipidus, as well as cerebral palsy among children as sad case.
Abbasova said that recently, Agdam Central Region Hospital had been provided with modern equipment and it was possible to treat most of patients locally. Being constructed under the order of President Ilham Aliyev, the hospital was given medical equipment ad valorem AZN 900 000, as well as gastroscope, 2 encephalograms, 2 echoscopes, 5 ECGs, laser apparatus. Two surgical blocks provided with modern equipment have been installed in the hospital.
Construction of new children’s hospital and maternity hospital are to be finished soon. Medical centers are also considered to open within May-June.
