Azerbaijani border guards detain 79 wanted individuals in January

All the detainees were transferred to law enforcement bodies, the State Border Service (SBS) told Trend today.

During January 1944 cases of illegal crossing of state borders were prevented, as a result of which 85 people were detained. Some 87 people were detained in 43 cases for violation of the border regime and relevant measures were taken towards them.

Nine Afghan citizens, who arrived in the country by the Tehran-Baku flight with false British passports, were detained at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport on Jan.18.

Five Bangladeshi citizens, who tried to illegally cross the border, were detained in the frontier post in the Yardimli region on Jan. 22. In January, the border guards seized about 62.5 kilograms of narcotic substances in 10 cases. The smuggled goods worth 486,885 manat were seized in 64 cases.
