Azerbaijan registered 459 HIV-infected people last year

97.4% of them are citizens of Azerbaijan, 2.6% are foreign citizens. 8.3% of the registered Azerbaijani citizens are men, 19.7% - women. Number of AIDS-infected patients during this period was 244, and number of deceased patients was 52.

The Ministry told that HIV/AIDS problem remains one of the biggestl problems in Azerbaijan. This has been spread among the people suffering from drug addiction. Recently, the number of infected people has increased. Nevertheless, level of HIV-infected people has remained unchanged in Azerbaijan within the last 4 years.
