Mobile penetration level reaches 100% in Azerbaijan

The subscriber base of mobile operators in Azerbaijan in 2010 increased by 1.342.880 people, amounting to 9.1 million subscribers, the Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry reported.

According to the statistics of the Ministry, in 2009 mobile communication services were used by 7,757,120 subscribers.

Number of mobile communication subscribers was 1. 057.100 in 2003, 1.456.500 in 2004, 2.242.000 in 2005, 3.323.500 in 2006, 4.519.000 in 2007, 6.548.000 in 2008, 7.757.120 in 2009 and 9.100.000 in 2010.

In late 2010, the mobile penetration in Azerbaijan has reached 100%. This figure was 86.2% in 2009.

The level of the mobile penetration was 12.8% in 2003, 17.4% in 2004, 26.8% in 2005, 39.0% in 2006, 52.4% in 2007, 75.0% in 2008, 86.2% in 2009 and 100% in 2010.
