Azerbaijan adopts new standards for public transport registration

The Azerbaijani State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents adopted the standard developed by the Ministry of Transport AZS 425-2010 "Buildings and cars of passenger stations", the committee said.

The standards apply to the construction of passenger stations, bus stops, taxi stops, trucks. They also establish the basic requirements for registration signs and other information data, the report said.

The items of standard are compulsory for private entrepreneurs and legal entities engaged in transporting passengers and cargo on the basis of licenses issued by the relevant authorities.

The normative document indicates the requirements for registration of passenger stations, stops of regular passenger vehicles, the external design of vehicles (taxis and passenger vehicles), as well as the interior design of passenger vehicles and passenger cab.

The new standards will be introduced from December 20, 2010.
