Old City of Baku to make guests feel like arts masters

The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers and Office of the Icheri Sheher Historical-Architectural Reserve are developing a project to enrich the infrastructure of the Old City and promote national crafts.

The original project implemented by Office of the Icheri Sheher Historical-Architectural Reserve together with a specialized company in this area envisages creation of a Garden of Arts, a center of fine and applied art of Azerbaijan, in the "Kichik Karvansaray" area in the Old City.

The project will give an opportunity to each guest of the Garden of Arts to get involved with the process of creating samples of national handicrafts and feel a real master for a time.

The center will involve local craftsmen. Samples of local carpet weaving, woodcarving, pottery, jewelery, decorative landscaping and work on other types of applied art and costumes will be displayed. The center is alo expected to organize art exhibitions to promote creativity of young artists.

Apart from the above-said, the guest will also be able to taste national and European cuisine.

The Garden of Arts will operate starting from the Novruz Holiday.

The building called "Kichik Karvansaray" or "Khan Karvansarayy" was built in late 15th and early 16th century.
