Azerbaijani judoka qualifies for quarter finals of world championship

Gasimova, 26, beat her Russian rival Irina Zabludina in the first round. She also gained victory over Austrian judoka, Sabrina Filzmoser, in the second round.

The Azerbaijani judoka will meet with Hungarian Hedvig Karakas in the quarter finals. Our judoka must defeat Portuguese Telma Monteryo to qualify for the final.

Sarkhan Ahmadov (66kg) was the only one from the national team to take part in the competition on the first day of the championship. He lost in the second round.
