Missing persons of Karabakh conflict commemorated in Azerbaijan

On the occasion of August 31 - International Day of Missing Persons, the representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Red Crescent Society met with the families of the missing people in Ganja, Azerbaijan.
Relatives of over 300 missing persons attended the event.

They had the opportunity to enter data about missing persons into the computers.

Belongings, photos, letters and other writings of the missing persons were exhibited at the event.

Coordinator of Ganja Regional Center of the Red Crescent Society Ismayil Asadov said there are about 600 missing persons in the western region and information has been collected about 300 of them.

The ICRC representative said memory book consisting of the materials collected about the missing persons will be published soon.

ICRC, which has been cooperating with Azerbaijani State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons since 1992, have registered 4,500 missing persons from both sides. Over 3,500 of them are Azerbaijanis.
