Most of the population of Baku do not know location of municipalities: POLL

The ELS Research Centre held a monitoring to estimate local administrations in Baku, head of the Centre Irada Yagubova said.

About 306 people from the Yasamal, Nasimi, Sabunchi, Sabail, Narimanov and Azizbayov districts attend at the poll.

The goal of the monitoring was to reveal population's attitude towards the activity of municipalities.

The population of Baku doe not satisfied with the activity of municipalities given the results of the monitoring.

Some 65 percent of the population was not aware of municipalities.

Yagubova said that the result of the poll, held on the threshold of municipal elections, showed that the activity during the elections would be low.

The number of municipalities will be reduced to 36 percent.

"Out of the acting 2,757 municipalities 993 will be abolished," chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Issues Arif Rahimzade said.
