Residents of Nardaran settlement have today held a picket in Imam Huseyn square protesting against Israel’s military operations in Gaza Strip.


APA reports that the picketers chanted slogans “Israel, US are terrorists!”, “Death to US and Israel!”, “Death to American Zionism!” “George Bush – number one terrorist!”, “Jerusalem is ours!”. Nardaran resident Haji Ali Huseynov said Muslim countries should take measures to prevent this massacre.

“Arabic leaders’ indifference towards the happenings means supporting Israel,” he said.

Haji Feyyaz Nabizadeh condemned the countries supporting Israel. He demanded closure of Israeli embassy in Azerbaijan and called on Azerbaijani Muslims to unite against the world Zionism.

Nardaran resident Mashadi Mehman Mammadov wanted chairman of Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh to take a stance on the happenings in Palestine.

Other Nardaran residents also called on Azerbaijan to review its relations with Israel.

The picketers burned effigies of US President George Bush, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and flags of the US and Israel.

According to Novosti-Azerbaijan, the action involved about 1,000 residents of Nardaran and neighbor settlements.

The action participants have put forward slogans with a demand to stop inhumane actions in the Gaza sector and condemning the countries and international organizations that support Israel.

The action participants demanded from official Tel-Aviv to stop military operations in the Gaza sector and called on the world community to take serious steps to stabilize the situation.
