Azerbaijanis commemorating Sattarkhan have conflict with Iranian police

The Azerbaijanis, who gathered to commemorate the 94th anniversary of death of Sattarkhan, leader of the constitutional revolution in Iran at the beginning of the past century, had a conflict with Iranian law-enforcers. Sources in Iran told APA that the Azerbaijanis, who attended the commemorative event in Shah Abdulazim sanctuary on November 13, were demanded to leave. The law-enforcers used all means to prevent the event, they did not allow the Azeris to reach the cemetery. They were made to get on buses near the cemetery and leave the place. The police attacked the intellectuals and activists of the movement for Azerbaijanis’ rights attending the event. A group of the participants, as well as national activists Abdullah Abbasi Javan, Huseyn Huseyni, Firuz Huseynpur were arrested by the officers of ETTELAAT. They are reportedly held in Evin jail in Tehran. Some of the arrested men were released in the evening, but their mobile phones were not given back to them.
